Random Happenings here in Munich

The other day my mom was vacuuming in Tanner's room and I hear this clank from a cross the hall and she kind of screams so I'm like great, what did you do now.  So I go in and she has vacuumed up his iPod ear buds and charge cord and they are all wound up in the vacuum.  So she tries to pull them out and they fall apart even more.  This was the end result.  It was sad, but actually really funny.

So last night a friend of ours invited us to go with him to a cool Ethiopian restaurant.  They bring everyone's food out on one plate and you use your hands and this cool sponge bread to eat.  It was so fun. 

Then for dessert a thick mango cream.  Very delicious!

Ships Ahoy!

About six weeks before we came here we had to gather together everything in our house that we would want in Germany, but would not fit in our suitcases.  Then the movers came and packed it up and shipped it off across the ocean.  So we have been here about five weeks and it finally came!!!!  It took FOREVER and we had nothing to do for weeks and weeks.  It was awful.  When they packed everything up they wrapped EVERYTHING in paper and so as we unpack little by little there is paper everywhere so for now we just shove it in the garage.  It looks pretty scary at the moment.

 We are a family of water bottles.  Need I say more?  We (the president) literally had buckets of them in our basement at home.  We use them all the time and definitely have more than we need, but hey, you can never have enough water bottles, right?

Sadly I didn't take more pictures, but I'm just really happy our stuff got here!

"I am totally doing this!"

So since we've been here I have been helping my mom do her own blog.  Every time she wants to post she has me sit down with her and show her how.  Finally she decided to write down the steps.  Typical Sister Kohler.  So then she did a post all by herself and looked at me and said, "I am totally doing this!"  That is how I feel sometimes.  Sometimes we go to long meetings or I get homesick or old men just talk to me in German and I have no idea what they are saying, but in the words of my mother, "I am totally doing this!"  There have been so many people back at home and that I have met here that are so supportive and wonderful and I am so grateful for all the truly amazing people in my life.  Thank you for helping me "do this".

Old Places with New Memories

So a little while ago we went to a cool museum in Marien Platz in downtown Munich.  It is a place where rulers of Bavaria have lived for hundreds of years.  There is a lot of really cool and REALLY old stuff there.  So this post will have a lot of pictures and if you are not interested in seeing them you might as well just scroll to the bottom right now.  I'll just let most of the pictures speak for themselves.

Afterwards we went outside and I found a "special" friend

 And finally we ate at the big beer hall here in Munich known as the Hofbrauhaus.  This is where all the regulars lock up their steins.

We drank some delicious Apfelshorle as well.  (Not beer.)

Afterwards we listened to some performers and realized they were singing "Hello Dolly".  It was kinda funny.  There were funny old men dancing and couples and people were laughing and eating and it was a cool evening.  We were perfectly satisfied and full and we walked down the cobblestone path and looked at the fairy tale skyline.  It felt like a fairy tale, but then where did the fairy tales get it, again?  Oh yeah, right here.
