So yesterday we finally got the opportunity to drive downtown and see all the amazing stuff down there. It was SO cool. There were REALLY old churches there, but right next to like iPhone stores. It is just so funny to see the contrast of buildings right by each other.
There were pigeons walking around on the cobble stones EVERYWHERE, and it reminded me of Mary Poppins and the song "Feed the Birds". It was exactly like that.
This is a cool little clock tower and when I saw it it reminded me of the Small World ride at Disneyland and i started humming the song.
We got to go in some AWESOME and really old churches. In both of them we went in there were weddings going on and we got to watch for a little bit. I would have loved to take more pictures, but one of the guys got mad at me and told me not to so these will have to do. You could never capture the beauty and intricacy of these churches in a picture. It is really weird. You walk down the street and it is loud and smoky (EVERYONE smokes here) and you go inside and it is quiet and clean and beautiful and just a totally different atmosphere. It's amazing.
This is the Glockenspiel. It is a giant clock tower and on certain hours in the day the bells play and the huge people dance around. That green part of the tower you can see in the picture is where the dolls are. The go around in circles and dance. It is so cool.
At one point we stopped to watch a band playing and it was so funny. They were all German, but when they started singing, they sang American 50's music with no accent at all and flawless English and then they started talking in fluent German again and it was so funny. They LOVE American music here. This is kind of a bad picture, but there was an old guy that was right up by the stage and he was just dancing and dancing and dancing the whole time and he had all the same moves and it was just so funny because he was SO into it.
We also saw this really cool statue and I don't really know what it was, but it was cool.
We also saw probably the most famous thing in Munich. It is the biggest beer hall EVER called the Hofbrauhaus. It was so big! The mugs were ginormous and there are places there where the regulars can lock up their steins like little lockers. It was really crowded and hot and there was a lot of beer. Sorry I didn't get any pictures.
We got some delicious food and pastries and this is when we were eating them outside.
It was a really fun day.
